End Of Summer Skin
I don’t know about you but towards the end of Summer my skin starts to look a bit lacklustre. No matter how much I moisturise and apply serums it is feeling dry and looking a bit dull. It has been a long, hot, harsh Summer with so little rain and loads of pollution in the air. Add to that living in air-conditioning and I’m seemingly aging faster by the day!
But you can’t avoid those things completely, so what can you do?
The first thing, and you probably already know what I’m doing to say is… drink more water. It’s simple but something we all forget to do. Once your mouth feels dry you are already dehydrated and in the unprecented heat we have experienced this year, it happens faster than you think. Increased intake of H20 will not only flush out any toxins but plump up your skin reducing the appearance of fine lines.
It goes without saying that diet also plays a huge part. Not being an expert in these things I’ll just say that increasing the intake of antioxidant rich fruit and vegetables (think the brightly coloured and green ones) and reducing dairy can also help.
The next option is to exfoliate your skin a little more. During the summer months we apply more SPF which doesn't always come off with a light cleanse. I recommend using an oil based cleanser to really break down dirt, oil and products on the face and leave your skin soft and supple. I also love using exfoliating toners after I have cleansed my face to get rid of all traces of product, dirt and oil.
Using a face oil at night is also magic for baby soft skin come morning. While applying a hyaluronic acid serum will hold and attract water molecules creating plumper skin and allowing increased cell renewal to take place.
